Who is Ardán and what is the National Talent Academy Film & TV? 

Ardán (prev. Galway Film Centre) is a registered charity with the aim of supporting creatives within the audio-visual (film, TV, games, and animation) industry in the West of Ireland and beyond, by enabling access to industry resources and advice, and providing funding and training opportunities.  

Ardán operates the National Talent Academy for Film & Television on behalf of Screen Ireland, and we wish to recruit a Communications Executive to support our development activities in this area.  

The (five) National Talent Academies were established to develop a highly skilled and diverse talent and crew base throughout Ireland. The National Talent Academy for Film & Television supports aspiring screenwriters, directors, and producers with courses, programmes, and career opportunities. 

What are we looking for in a Communications Executive?  

We are looking for an enthusiastic communications specialist to coordinate our internal administration and to develop our talent base by engaging with new audiences across our initiatives and opportunities. 

This is an opportunity to work as part of a small team to streamline our internal communications & to develop our public engagement strategy, as well as support content, editing, and marketing tasks. 

The Communications Executive will be responsible for 

Internal administration tasks, as well as public engagement work to support the Programme Director and Project Coordinator in the delivery of a number of different schemes aimed toward entry, emerging, and established talent in Ireland in the areas of production, direction, and writing for Film and TV. 

  • Day-to-day administrative tasks including capturing, recording, and organising internal data 
  • Content editing and proofing for public-facing content eg. blog posts, social media, and reports 
  • Ongoing public engagement work to support the NTA Film & TV in expanding its talent base 
  • Coordinating with our partners and the press to deliver effective PR and marketing strategies 
  • Coordinating with contractors for photography, videography, merch etc. for nationwide events 

The ideal candidate will have 

  • 2 years’ experience working in a similar organisation and/or in a similar comms role 
  • Excellent communications and IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products 
  • Administration skills, including editorial experience, to assist with content creation 
  • Experience in fostering relationships with the public to develop our industry talent base 
  • An understanding of the arts/ cultural sector, with an interest in film and TV production 
  • Knowledge and experience working with social media, content platforms, and PR is a plus

Terms of employment 

The National Talent Academy Film & TV is an initiative of Screen Ireland and is managed by Ardán. 

 

The Communications Executive is a part-time role working mainly Monday – Friday, however some occasional weekend and evening work will be required. This is initially a 12-month contract with a 6-month probationary period. This hybrid role includes remote & in-office work in Ardán’s Galway office.
