Galway City of Film’s second annual Culture Night Screening will take place again at Eyre Square on Friday, September 22nd, from 8pm to 10 pm. Last year’s open-air screening was received very well by the audience and the passers by, and we can’t wait to show short films and short documentaries that were made as part of our City of Film training and funding programmes over the last couple of years!

Facilitated by Ardán, and with the support of Galway City Council, this event is a free open-air screening at the top of the Square as part of Culture Night celebrations. The screening includes shorts that were made as part of the Short Documentary Bursary, the Misleór Short Documentary Grant, and the Little Cinema 48 Hour Challenge. This event will be family-friendly and will be wheelchair accessible.

As part of the screening, we’ll be showing:

  • Beoirs Whidden (2022) by Peter Mongan – Misleór Short Documentary Grant
  • Wild Reconnection (2022) by Anna Konieczna & Deqa Ibrahim – Short Documentary Bursary
  • Ballast (2023) by Paul D’Eath & Emily Murray – 48 Hour Challenge
  • The Man Who Went For One (2018) by John Cavanagh – 48 Hour Challenge
  • The Pick Up (2019) by Vera Kilgallon – 48 Hour Challenge
  • No Strings Attached (2021) by Barry Fahy & Paul Fitzgerald – 48 Hour Challenge
  • Mac An Saol (2022) by John Murphy & Anna Doyle – 48 Hour Challenge

We can’t wait to see you there! Go to the Galway Culture Night website to find out about the other events happening around the city and county on the night, and plan out your evening of cultural events.

Galway City of Film is managed by Ardán, and supported by Galway City Council, Galway County Council, and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
