The annual FÍS TV Summit is returning to Galway in-person for 2023, after two years of being hosted online. As a part of the 2023 FÍS TV Summit, there will be a Pitching Competition where the winning pitch will win a prize of €1,000. The competition is open to individuals or teams who are developing an idea for a live action television drama, TV single, mini-series, short form/web series.
Up to six individuals or teams will take part and they will each have up to 5 minutes to pitch their idea (plus 3 minutes to answer questions) to the FÍS TV Summit audience, with a panel of industry experts deciding who wins the prize.
Projects may be an original or adapted concept for the first series of a live action television drama, TV single, mini-series, short form/web series with all genres eligible (eg. drama, comedy, romantic, crime thriller, sci-fi, etc.)
The last time the Pitching Competition was held was in January 2020, Paddy Hayes won with his pitch for Obituary, a story about Elvira Clancy who resorts to murder when her newspaper employer begins to pay her per obituary!
In the audience that year was Laurent Boissel (APC Studios) who loved the idea and signed on as executive producer alongside Paddy for the show (written by Mayo writer Ray Lawlor.) The show is being co-produced by Tua Films of Galway and APC Studios for the US streaming service Hulu with RTÉ pre-buying the series.
“I’m really looking forward to introducing the Pitching Event at FÍS TV Summit 2023! It’s a great opportunity for producers and production teams to pitch their idea in front of TV industry executives who can help take their idea to the next level. 2023 looks like another great year for Irish film and TV collaboration with international partners, here’s to more of it!”
Paddy Hayes, Tua Films
