Ardán, in association with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) and National Talent Academy for Film & TV (NTA), are pleased to announce the return of the Script Mentorship Scheme for 2022.
The highly regarded scheme is open to applications from emerging and diverse script writers and script editors across the feature film and television drama sectors, who are habitual residents in the regions (outside Wicklow/ Dublin).
Three script writers and one script editor will be chosen for this mentorship opportunity.
Each of the three Script Writers and the one Script Editor will receive an award of €500 and allotted time with a highly experienced mentor, focusing on the script writing and development process.
The Script Writers will be mentored over the 3 months in one-on-one sessions. The Script Editor will shadow the mentors as they work with the Script Writers over the three-month period.
They will all take part in one-on-one sessions with their mentors to enhance their writing and editing skills and participate in bespoke workshops and networking opportunities as part of the programme.
Please note: the mentorship aims to support the development of the script writing and editing skills necessary for the participants to progress, rather than focussing on completing a fully formed script.
This year’s esteemed mentors are Keith Potter (Kelly + Victor, Love & Friendship, Song of Granite), and Dearbhla Regan (An Cailín Ciúin and Dating Amber.)
The scheme is aimed at emerging Script Writers and Script Editors, with a demonstrable level of relevant experience, who are habitually resident in the regions (outside Dublin/Wicklow) or who identify as diverse (please see our Diversity & Inclusion Policy).
Both schemes can be applied for by the same person, but separate applications are required for each scheme.
The scheme will endeavour to endorse diversity and equality of voices, and the nurturing of ideas generated and located in the regions. The proven experience of the applicants – as well as their project’s originality, boldness and potential for development will be a key criterion in the selection.
This round of the scheme will run from November 2022 to March 2023, so when you are applying, please ensure you have availability to participate in the mentorship during these months.
Please note: Participants of past Ardán/ Galway Film Centre script mentorship schemes are NOT eligible to apply.
Guidelines & Submission Requirements for Script Writers:
The scheme is aimed at emerging talent with demonstrable experience (eg. can provide previous scripts, a Media CV or a Showreel of previous work).
Applicants may apply as an individual or as a writing team (but please do note that a single award of €500 will be available per selected project, not per person in a team).
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Students in full time education are not eligible.
Applicants must be habitually resident in the regions (outside Dublin/Wicklow) or who identify as diverse (please see our Diversity & Inclusion Policy).
The scheme is open to ideas for a live action or animated feature film or TV series which does not necessarily need to be produced in the regions.

In the application form you will be asked to supply a download link with the following information:

A personal statement (up to 1 page) which expands on any other related education, training or relevant work experience, and that speaks to how this development opportunity could help your career. (PDF format)
